About.
A small, open archive of Japanese mythology. Plainly written and freely read.
Odyst is a focused reference for Japanese mythology: yokai, demons, legendary figures, and the sacred places connected to them. Each entry is curated and cross-referenced.
It's built like a small museum. Structured indices, hairline rules, tabular numerics. The aim is to stay out of the way of the stories.
Odyst does not require an account. There is no sign-up, no profile, no favorites synced to a server. Read, browse, and leave. Nothing follows you.
We do not collect personal information. The only data stored in your browser is your light/dark theme preference. See the privacy policy for the full picture.
Odyst comes from odyssey. The site is meant to feel like a long, slow walk through stories that most readers have never encountered.
